Sorin Ovidiu Vantu a fost retinut pentru 24 ore

Procurorii Parchetului General l-au retinut pe Sorin Ovidiu Vantu, patronul Realitatii TV, pentru 24 de ore, acuzat ca ar fi finantat sederea in Indonezia a lui Nicolae Popa. Vantu, Liviu Luca, Octavian Turcan si Alexandru Stoian au fost adusi cu mandat la parchet, in urma unor perchezitii in cazul disparitiei din tara a lui Nicolae Popa, fost director Gelsor, condamnat in dosarul FNI. Procurorii au facut zece perchezitii domiciliare la mai multe imobile ale celor patru, de unde au ridicat mai multe calculatoare.
Dupa aproximativ o ora de audieri, patronul Realitatii TV a parasit sub escorta sediul parchetului, fiind urcat intr-o masina si transportat la Directia Cercetari Penale. La iesire, Vantu si-a exprimat dorinta ca Basescu sa ajunga in locul sau atunci cand va pierde, in sfarsit, o batalie. De asemenea, soferul lui Vantu, Alex Stoian, a fost retinut pentru 24 de ore.
Nicolae Popa, fostul director Gelsor, a fugit din Romania, dupa ce a fost condamnat la 15 ani de inchisoare in dosarul prabusirii Fondului National de Investitii. El a fost capturat in Indonezia, autoritatile romane solicitand extradarea acestuia.
Cei patru sunt acuzati de favorizarea infractorului, procurorii avand probe ca acestia i-au trimis lui Popa diverse sume de bani.
Ministrul indonezian al Justitiei, Patrialis Akbar, a autorizat, in februarie, extradarea in Romania a fostului director Gelsor, Nicolae Popa, procedura avand nevoie si de aprobarea presedintelui indonezian, anunta politia locala, citata de editia online a Jakarta Globe.
Fostul director Gelsor Nicolae Popa a fost arestat, în 2 decembrie, de autoritatile din Jakarta, Indonezia, el fiind condamnat de Tribunalul Bucuresti, in 2006, la 15 ani de inchisoare pentru inselaciune, alaturi de Ioana Maria Vlas, decizia ramanand definitiva in 2009.
Nicolae Popa a fost director al grupului de firme Gelsor si membru al Consiliului de Incredere al Sov Invest, societatea de administrare a FNI. Decizia definitiva si irevocabila in dosarul prabusirii FNI a fost data in 4 iunie 2006, de catre Inalta Curte de Casatie si Justitie.
Instanta suprema a mentinut mare parte a cuantumului pedepselor stabilite pentru inculpatii din acest dosar, printre care Ioana Maria Vlas, fostul administrator al SOV Invest, si Nicolae Popa, fost director al Gelsor, grup financiar cu activitati de brokeraj si pe piata fondurilor de investitii, prin care se derulau si tranzactiile cu unitati de fond de la FNI.
