Basescu l-a decorat pe Ilie Botos, responsabil de fuga lui Omar Hayssam

Traian Basescu l-a decorat pe fostul procuror general al Romaniei, Ilie Botos, apropiat al lui Adrian Nastase si un protejat al ministrului Apararii, Gheorghe Oprea. Botos a primit Virtutea Militara in Grad de Cavaler. Ilie Botos a demisionat din fruntea Parchetului General in 2006, chiar la presiunile lui Traian Basescu, dupa fuga din tara a sirianului Omar Hayssam.
Potrivit unui decret publicat astazi in Monitorul Oficial, la propunerea ministrului Apararii, generalul maior Ilie Botos a primit Virtutea Militara in Grad de Cavaler “in semn de apreciere deosebita pentru inaltul profesionalism, daruire si devotament dovedite in indeplinirea atributiilor de serviciu”.
Ilie Botos a fost procuror general al Romaniei intre 2002 si 2006, pus in functie de primul ministru de atunci, Adrian Nastase si detronat la solicitarea expresa a lui Traian Basescu, ajuns presedintele Romaniei la sfarsitul anului 2004.
Basescu a incercat mai mult de un an sa-l dea jos din functie pe Botos, acuzandu-l de nenumarate ori de politizarea justitiei, dar a nu reusit deoarece nu-i exprirase mandatul. In 2006, Botos a fost nevoit sa-si dea demisia in urma scandalului fugii din tara a lui Omar Hayssam, dupa care a primit un loc caldut la Ministerul Apararii.
In locul sau, la propunerea Monicai Macovei, ministrul de Justitie din acea perioada, Basescu a numit-o procuror general pe Laura Kovesi
Ilie Botos a fost detasat la ministerul Apararii. Situatia profesionala a fostului procuror general s-a imbunatatit considerabil dupa ce Gheorghe Oprea a adevenit ministru al Apararii, stiut fiind faptul ca cei doi se afla in relatii foarte bune de pe vremea guvernarii Nastase. In ianuarie 2009, presa a scris ca Botos a fost numit director adjunct al Directiei Generale de Informatii a Apararii.
