Presedintele Traian Basescu a anuntat marti, in fata camerelor reunite ale Parlamentului, ca Romania trebuie sa semneze un nou acord cu FMI pentru un imprumut de 5,7 miliarde de euro doar pentru a acoperi deficitul bugetar. Basescu a vorbit despre dificultatile autoritatilor romane in a plati oamenii aflati in asistenta sociala.
Traian Basescu a declarat ca dificultatile financiare ale Romaniei se datoreaza si datorita faptului ca a crescut numarul persoanelor care cer asistenta sociala. Astfel, in 2004, Romania avea in asistenta sociala peste 6 milioane de cetateni, iar in 2009, numarul acestora a ajuns, datorita guvernului condus Calin Popescu Tariceanu la 13,9 milioane, adica o dublare a numarului de asistati social, dar a recunoscut ca si actualul guvern PDL a facut excese, amintind al 13-lea salariu dat in primavara si prime si stimulente in unele ministere.
„Lupta noastra cu criza a fost ingerunata de o criza de incredere, incurajata si intretinuta. Discursul public negativ de azi ma obliga sa reamintesc unora ca Romania este o tara europeana, democratica, cu un urias potential de dezvoltare. Mai avem insa un drum dificil de parcurs pentru a ne recapata increderea, si pentru asta e nevoie de sacrificiu politic imediat. Sistemul de educatie si sistemul sanitar nu sunt finantate corespunzator, insa inainte de a spune asta, ar trebui sa ne asiguram ca resursele actuale sunt corect utilizate si onest alocate. In ultimii 10 ani, fondurile pentru sanatate au crescut de 4 ori, insa calitatea serviciilor nu a crescut, este o dovada a folosirii necorespunzatoare a resurselor”, a spus seful statului.
Presedintele a recunoscut ca Romania are mari probleme in a se imprumuta pe pietele externe pe termen lung, iar datorita deficitelor si lipsei de reforme structurale, nimeni nu mai doreste sa acorde tarii noastre imprumuturi cu scadenta la 3 ani.
Traian Basescu a tinut sa puncteze faptul ca Romania iese din recesiune: Incet-incet, Romania iese din recesiune: „Pentru 2011, prognozele arata ca putem intra in zona de crestere cu 2%, cu conditia realizarii reformelor structurale. In 2012-2013, cresterea poate fi de 3-4%. Aceasta nu e insa suficienta pentru a asigura dezvoltarea economica, e nevoie de minimum 5%”.
Parlamentarii social-democrati au decis sa paraseasca sala plenului reunit al Legislativului, inaintea mesajului presedintelui Traian Basescu, anuntul fiind facut de liderul PSD, Victor Ponta.
