Guvernul intra in conflict financiar cu Biserica si trece la executarea silita a unor bunuri pentru neplata unor datorii la stat. ANAF a pus sechestru pe averea Arhiepiscopiei Tomisului, pentru neplata datoriilor datorate bugetului de stat in valoare de 1 milion de euro.
Fiscul nu a tinut cont de declaratiile lumesti ale IPS Daniel, Patriarhul Romaniei, facute cu putin timp in urma, potrivit carora Biserica se guverneaza dupa propriile canoane, cand s-a pus problema ca preotii sa plateasca impozite.
Bunuri de mare valoare ale Arhiepiscopiei Tomisului au fost puse sub sechestru de catre Directia Financiara Constanta pentru o datorie catre stat de 4,2 milioane de lei. Inspectorii financiari au pus lacatele pe Palatul Arhiepiscopal, pe mai multe imobile, pe un teren extravilan de 2.500 mp din orasul Ovidiu, precum si pe un apartament din Constanta.
De asemenea, au fost blocate conturile Bisericii din orasul de la malul marii la mai multe banci, dar si pe 13 autovehicule. In schimb, intr-un comunicat al Arhiepiscopiei se spune ca proprietatile Bisericii sunt inalienabile, iar Fiscul nu are dreptul sa sechestreze aceste bunuri. “Potrivit Hotararii Guvernului Romaniei nr 53 din 16 ianuarie 2008, bunurile sacre, respectiv cele care prin sfintire sunt binecuvantate sunt destinate exclusiv si direct cultului, sunt inalienabile, insesizabile si imprescriptibile“.
