Indonezia a acceptat extradarea lui Nicolae Popa

Ministerul Justitiei transmite joi ca presedintele Indoneziei a aprobat, la 25 august 2010, decretul privind inceperea procedurii de extradare a lui Nicolae Popa, fostul director al Gelsor, condamnat la 15 ani inchisoare in dosarul FNI.
„Din informatiile transmise de Ambasada Romaniei la Jakarta, rezulta faptul ca presedintele indonezian a aprobat, la 25 august 2010, decretul privind inceperea procedurii de extradare in cazul persoanei mentionate. Autoritatile indoneziene au precizat ca vor initia masurile aferente continuarii procedurii de extradare, etapa urmatoare fiind cea judiciara”, se arata intr-un comunicat al Ministerului Justitiei.
Totodata, Ministerul Justitiei precizeaza ca procedura de extradare se face in conformitate cu legea indoneziana.
Procurorii Parchetului General i-au retinut joi pe omul de afaceri Sorin Ovidiu Vantu si pe soferul acestuia, Alex Stoian, ambii fiind acuzati de savarsirea infractiunii de favorizare a infractorului.
”Sper din toata inima ca atunci cand Basescu va pierde in sfarsit o batalie sa il vad in locul meu”, a declarat Vantu, inainte de a fi urcat intr-o duba si dus in arestul Directiei Cercetari Penale.
Tot la Parchet, sunt audiati omul de afaceri Octavian Turcan si Liviu Luca, presedintele sindicatului de la Petrom. Este posibil ca si acestia sa fie retinuti.
La 17 mai 2010, PICCJ arata ca omul de afaceri Sorin Ovidiu Vantu i-a trimis lui Nicolae Popa, in noiembrie 2009, cu doar cateva zile inainte ca acesta sa fie arestat la Jakarta, suma de 44.500 de euro. Conform procurorilor, ”in baza dispozitiilor numitului Sorin Ovidiu Vantu, cetateanul moldovean Turcan Octavian a transmis sume de bani, prin transfer bancar, dintr-un cont deschis la o banca din Nicosia-Cipru, in contul unei societati comerciale inregistrate in Indonezia”. Destinatarul final al banilor era, potrivit anchetatorilor, prietenul lui Sorin Ovidiu Vantu, Nicolae Popa.
Procurorii au efectuat joi perchezitii la locuintele lui Sorin Ovidiu Vantu, presedintelui Federatiei Sindicatelor Libere Petrom, Liviu Luca, omului de afaceri Octavian Turcan si Alex Stoian.
Fostul director al Gelsor Nicolae Popa (condamnat in dosarele FNI si FNA) a fost arestat, la 2 decembrie 2009, de autoritatile din Jakarta, Indonezia. Popa a fost condamnat in 2006 de Tribunalul Bucuresti la 15 ani de inchisoare, pentru inselaciune si delapidare.
Fost director al grupului de firme Gelsor si membru al Consiliului de Incredere al Sov Invest, Nicolae Popa este acuzat, alaturi de Ioana Maria Vlas, de fapte de inselaciune cu consecinte deosebit de grave, in dosarele FNI si FNA.
Grupul financiar Gelsor desfasura activitati de brokeraj pe piata fondurilor de investitii, prin care se derulau si tranzactiile cu unitati de fond de la FNI.
