Un tribunal din Indonezia a admis cererea de extradare a lui Nicolae Popa, aghiotantul lui S.O.Vantu in afacerea FNI. Fostul director al Gelsor a fost fost condamnat, in lipsa, la 15 ani inchisoare pentru fraudarea FNI. “Legea indoneziana nu prevede posibilitatea unui apel la sentinta pronuntata astazi”, completeaza Ministerul Afacerilor Externe. Hotararea irevocabila a judecatorilor urmeaza a fi comunicata presedintelui indonezian.
“MAE confirma ca instanta indoneziana a hotarat ca se poate da curs cererii de extradare formulata de autoritatile romane privindu-l pe cetateanul roman Popa Nicolae. De asemenea, legea indoneziana nu prevede posibilitatea unui apel la sentinta pronuntata astazi”, precizeaza MAE.
Ca urmare a acestei hotarari, partile implicate se reunesc pentru intocmirea proiectului de decret care va fi inaintat presedintelui Indoneziei spre aprobare. Dupa ce va fi semnat acest decret, extradarea poate avea loc.
Potrivit jurnalistilor indonezieni, citati de Antena3, Popa ar fi declarat in fata instantei ca este “o victima politica” si ca extradarea sa ar fi ilegala din moment ce intre cele doua state nu exista un tratat de extradare.
Nicolae Popa a fost condamnat la 15 ani de inchisoare in dosarul prabusirii Fondului National de Investitii si a fost arestat in Indonezia. Arestat pentru cateva zile a fost si Sorin Ovidiu Vantu, acuzat ca l-ar fi sprijinit pe Popa in “exilul” sau autoimpus in Indonezia. Vantu i-ar fi trimis diferite sume de bani pentru a impiedica extradarea in Romania.
