Mafiot italian, arestat in timp ce se intorcea acasa din Romania

Antonio Cortese (48 de ani), un sef mafiot care se refugiase in Romania, a fost arestat, miercuri, intr-un autocar, in timp ce se intorcea in Italia. El este acuzat de o serie de amenintari si atentate la adresa magistratilor din Reggio Calabria, informeaza agentia de presa ANSA.
Antonio Cortese, membru al gruparii mafiote Ndrangheta din Reggio Calabria, a fost dat in urmarire generala ca autorul unui atentat la viata procurorului general al Tribunalului din Reggio Calabria, Salvatore di Landro.
El a fost descoperit in Romania si urmarit timp de doua saptamani. Cortese a fost arestat miercuri dimineata la granita cu Slovenia, dupa ce politia din Trieste a controlat intreaga noapte toate autocarele de pe ruta Romania – Italia.
Antonio Cortese este acuzat ca ar fi instalat o bomba la intrarea casei procurorului Di Landro in noaptea de 26 august. Deflagratia nu a produs victime, dar a distrus ferestrele.
In lunile care au urmat, Cortese ar fi trimis scrisori de amenintare cu gloante la adresa magistratilor din Reggio Calabria. Potrivit anchetatorilor, in urma cu cateva saptamani, Cortese ar fi lasat o arma de tip bazooka (proiectil folosit in razboi pentru a dobori tancurile) in fata tribunalului. Acuzatiile la adresa mafiotului sunt de ‘amenintari deosebit de grave la adresa institutiilor statului’.
Cortese a fugit in Romania, dar este cunoscut in dosarele politiei ca expert in trafic de arme si explozibil pe care le achizitiona din Austria.
