Hosni Mubarak pleaca de la conducerea Egiptului, dupa 30 de ani de dictatura

Presedintele egiptean Hosni Mubarak a anuntat marti seara ca nu va mai candida pentru un nou mandat la alegerile din septembrie si ca va lucra in timpul ramas din actualul sau mandat pentru o ‘tranzitie pasnica’, informeaza Associated Press. ‘Cu toata sinceritatea, tinand cont de circumstantele actuale, nu mai intentionez sa ma prezint pentru un nou mandat prezidential ‘, a declarat el intr-un discurs retransmis la televiziunea nationala, dupa opt zile de contestatie populara fara precedent in timpul regimului sau.
‘Responsabilitatea mea principala este de a restabili ordinea pentru a realiza o tranzitie usoara intr-o atmosfera linistita’, a declarat presedintele egiptean Hosni Mubarak.
Hosni Mubarak a precizat ca nu va parasi Egiptul, desi nu va mai candida la alegerile prezidentiale din septembrie cand ii expira mandatul.
‘Hosni Mubarak care va vorbeste astazi este mandru de realizarile sale de-a lungul anilor in care a servit Egiptul si pe locuitorii lui’, a spus el.
‘Aceasta este tara mea. Aici am trait, am luptat si i-am aparat teritoriul, suveranitatea si interesele, si voi muri pe pamantul ei’, a subliniat Mubarak.
El s-a angajat de asemenea ca va pune in aplicare o serie de reforme, inclusiv chemand sistemul judiciar sa combata coruptia, una dintre plangerile protestatarilor care l-au fortat sa anunte un final al presedintiei sale spre sfarsitul acestui an.

Presedintele american Barack Obama i-a solicitat omologului sau egiptean Hosni Mubarak sa nu se mai prezinte la urmatoarele alegeri prezidentiale prevazute in septembrie, intr-un mesaj transmis de un fost ambasador al SUA in Egipt, scrie The New York Times.
Aceasta solicitare a fost transmisa de Frank Wisner, care s-a dus la Cairo luni la cererea administratiei americane.
‘Mesajul transmis de dl Wisner, au declarat acesti diplomati, nu a fost o cerere directa pentru ca el (Mubarak) sa paraseasca imediat puterea, dar el l-a sfatuit sa se angajeze intr-un proces pentru o reforma ce va culmina cu alegeri libere si corecte in luna septembrie pentru a alege un nou lider egiptean’, scrie The New York Times.
